Properties and Mode of Action
TRITTICO, Trazodone, is a sedative antidepressant which differs in chemical structure and pharmacological properties from other currently available antidepressants. The mode of action is attributed to serotonin re-uptake inhibition and 5-HT2 receptor antagonism.
Also clinical trials have shown the efficacy of Trazodone in improving male erectile dysfunction of psychogenic origin.
TRITTICO has low incidence of anticholinergic side effects and a high safety profile, so, it can be used even in patients with problems of glaucoma and prostatic troubles. Also TRITTICO does not alter cardiac conduction.

Indications
TRITTICO is indicated for the treatment of various types of depression especially when accompanied by anxiety and sleep disorders.
TRITTICO is useful in improving male erectile dysfunction of psychogenic origin.

Dosage and Administration
The dose of TRITTICO should be increased gradually and the maximum part of the dose should be given at bedtime.
When an adequate response is obtained, the dose should be maintained for a suitable period and then gradually withdrawn.
Starting dose is 150 mg daily in divided doses. This may be increased by 50 mg every 3 - 4 days until optimal effect is obtained.
Maximum dosage is 300 mg daily (for out-patients) and 600 mg daily (for in-patients).

Precautions
TRITTICO should not be given within 2 weeks of stopping MAOIs. Also MAOIs should not be given within 1 week of stopping TRITTICO.
Use with care is recommended with epilepsy, myocardial infarction, severe hepatic or renal disease.
TRITTICO is not to be given during pregnancy and lactation (only if the potential benefits justifies the potential risk).
TRITTICO is not recommended for children.

Contra_indications
Known sensitivity to Trazodone.

Side effects
Dizziness, drowsiness, nasal congestion, and postural hypotension that disappear on continued dosage.
TRITTICO may be associated with priapism and any male patient with prolonged painful erection should immediately discontinue the drug.

Presentation
TRITTICO 50 mg Tablets : Box of 2 strips of 10 tablets each.
TRITTICO 100 mg Tablets : Box of 2 strips of 10 tablets each.
